Clearhead has a 24/7 helpline for critical incident support, including employees experiencing a mental health crisis who require support to ring (or for managers to ring on behalf of an employee).
In New Zealand the number to call is 0800 CLR HED (0800 257 433). In Australia the number to call is (1800 257 433).
The best practice for critical incident support is to provide psychoeducation on what are normal reactions to traumatic events, please reach out to Clearhead for these resources you can send to your employees. However, if after 1 week the individual is still not able to cope with the incident, we then recommend professional support but not before to not over-medicalising a normal reaction.
Clearhead can deliver both in-person critical incident support on-site or online. Our clinicians are trauma-informed in their training and the critical incident support can be arranged within 24 hours if appropriate.
For employees who are requiring urgent support/crisis support, this would be triaged by our team and then the appropriate support provided whether that is to arrange in person/online therapy within 24 hours or to involve the emergency services depending on the individual employee’s risk levels.
